Q: Why is the Iowa Arts Council creating an on-line shopping store for Iowa artists and agents?

Helping Iowa artists sell their artistic work is an important goal of the Iowa Arts Council. BuyIowaArt.Com is an initiative of the Iowa Arts Council that fulfills Governor Vilsack’s challenge to state agencies to be more entrepreneurial in allocating state resources to make Iowa an attractive place for people to live and work. It also meets the Iowa Arts Council’s goal of helping Iowa artists (and their agents) promote and sell their work.

Q: How does BuyIowaArt.com work?

When a buyer purchases artwork featured in BuyIowaArt.com, the IAC receives the order. A credit check is completed and the artist or agent who sponsors the artwork on the site is notified to fill the order. When the artist/agent fulfills the order, they notify the IAC that the order has been fulfilled and the IAC completes the credit card transaction.
